Unfortunately, it's pretty useless as it is with no Google Play Store, or any other Google apps.
Hopefully a global update will arrive and all will be well, but until then...
Nokia has discovered a hole in the market which every other manufacturer has left wide open. If you were to order one from China, your only hope would be for the release of a global ROM which you might be able to flash onto the device later on.
It's all a bit too hard in my opinion, better to be patient.
A data session will not prohibit the second SIM from receiving a call, however if you are on a call with with one SIM, then the other SIM cannot be used for the duration of the call. You probably won't receive calls on 4G as telcos need to enable Vo LTE for that (and they probably won't for this model), but you can make and receive calls on 3G using either SIM, and you can use 4G for data when you are not in a call. For those who about performance in meaningless synthetic benchmarks, sure.
But if neither are in use and a call comes in, the appropriate sim will take it. So not much use to us as we are in the process of shutting down the 2G. From my reading, the second sim is on "standby" and won't be used if the primary is in active use on either a call or data.
Most speculation says to expect the phones in late May. I don't expect they'll release another press release about exact date of availability.
v=0M3Budnl3a I For the record, the Nokia 6 seems to be an extremely well built and solid device. I just googled this morning to see how big the battery was and that site popped up. i currently have an asus zenfone 2 which has developed the bad habit of bending in my pocket and disconnecting the sim card i hope the solid aluminium body of the nokia 6 can solve this issue and also i am a nokia fanboy i wish the new model had a keyboard like my old N97 but any nokia is a good one I am looking forward to getting another "nokia" phone but stock android and the promise of quick updates and security patches is what i'm looking forward too Bit disappointed that wireless charging is missing apparently there is now a hong kong version of the nokia 6 which has the google play store pre-installed this article says TA-1000 is the chinese phone & TA-1003 is the hong kong one https://forum.DWI is selling it for 9 with free shipping. I'd still wait a month or so for global release though.
It's clear that the new guys at HMD want to continue Nokia's reputation in this regard. I believe we will see local availability in Australia as well (with warranty and everything). HMD has said that all 3 new Nokia smartphones will be released in Q2 (April-June).
At these price-points, nothing comes close to matching the build quality and specs. ) Pure android, no bloatware, fast updates Glass and aluminium material Mid-range CPU means longer lasting battery for those of us who don't want to play games / watch movies on our phones Good price (not everyone wants to fork over 0 for a well-built phone). https://au/col The pictures, with the blue icons, look like the Chinese model. At best they have found a way to flash Google Play Services on the Chinese version.
I personally favor build quality over performance, and too often you'll see companies giving you the performance but housed within a shitbox which overheats / falls apart / looks like a kid's phone / etc. At worst, it's just the Chinese version with no Google Play. I can only imagine the phone having a hacked ROM allowing for the installation of the Google Play app, and would possibly disable OTA update support as a consequence.
I’ll never forget dropping my Lumia 920 countless times – and it surviving, and me often checking the floorboards for damage.
